What did this teach me? An artist's drawing process is important/...mine sucks. Originally these were pen doodles i scanned and sketched over, but before I even managed to thoroughly sketch I started the lineart and before that was finished I started on the background etc. This resulted in having to rework the lineart and colors layer over and over and -omgmindasplode-

These are some of my original characters. They're dorks.

Left - Neuf-Gateaux: A lot of Neuf's background is still ambiguous to me. Basically Neuf was born with an absurd amount of magical power and an uncanny talent for controlling it, so he was once expected to be some kind of powerful wizarding savior. It became apparent though that his strongest talent was in manipulating shadow matter, which is considered an iffy type of magic reserved for uber evil endbosses, so people began to doubt Neuf's ability to keep control of his power. Neuf is far too unconcerned with anything to ever become really evil though and currently instead of being a magical hero or an evil endboss, he's running a cool cakeshop. The mask and cakehat are just for show.

Middle - Raffia Regato: Raffia is even less developed than Neuf or Crass right now really. All I know is that he's excellent with a katana, and handy with shooting and leaping and climbing with crazyninja skills. He also whistles a lot but is bad at singing and only takes warm drinks, which is weird.

Right - Crassicornis Deluge: Crass' red hair, glowy blue horns and aqua eyes are the result of mistaking a questionable chemical that causes one to take on characteristics of the sea slug Crassicornis Hermissenda [go google it] for orange soda. The funky clothes are a result of his nonexistant fashion sense. Crass is a dorky scientist who specializes in chemistry but is very clumsy and absentminded. Unlike Neuf and Raffia he lacks fighting skills and rad magic powers so instead he'd blow enemies up or turn them into narwhals provided he could find the right test tubes and toss them right. He also has a weird speech issue where sometimes he has trouble with normal voice inflection and it confuses people. Like instead of exclaiming something it would sound like he was asking a question for example. ...I LIKE CAKE?! Neuf is fairly used to it though since their bffs.
